Watch the Sound Sailing online guitar lesson by Brooks Robertson from Essentials: Boom-Chick Fingerstyle Etudes
Notice that during the intro and A section of the song, the bass notes on the bottom three strings are sustaining, not muted and muffled throughout the entire piece, like we've done in other songs. When you get to the B section of the tune, notice how we do the transition into using the muffled bass, boom-chick technique. It's important to be able to switch back and forth from each technique smoothly and without hesitation. Also take note of the specific fingerings being used for the main melody, trying to move around as little as possible, striving for an overall legato feel, flowing and smooth. Be sure to use this video as a resource to frequently reference and eventually to play along with as well. Don't forget to utilize the tabs, charts, and notation.
