The intro on this one is pretty tricky with the thumb over the top, sounding in the low string while doing the hammer-on/pull-off riff on the fourth string with the doubled octave to the b7. Really get this move together so you can play this song properly. It's also something we can use in many different occasions.
As I've stated in this course many times, I cannot imagine playing guitar without using my thumb over the top of the neck. I learned the technique from watching and learning Jimi Hendrix tunes, and this was one of the first tunes that helped me get the technique together. The real trick, and difficult part, is muting the rest of the strings while making sure the fretted notes ring out clearly. You want to do all this while keeping 16th notes with the right-hand. That's a tall order and a recipe for a noisy mess! So take your time with it and the payoff will be huge.
