Watch the Floor Blues Solo online guitar lesson by Jeff McErlain from Essentials: Advanced Blues Soloing

As I sit in the introduction to this solo, this one is mainly about hand strength really. Nailing the huge vibrato and big bends is largely about developing the muscles in your hand to handle it. I have spoken about this concept before, but you must practice this, and everything you do with intent. Vibrato and bending like this does not just happen, it takes a lot of a specialized work and is difficult. But, if the sound appeals to you, it's well worth it. We can hear this kind of playing coming from Stevie Ray Vaughan as well, and that guy had very strong hands. I was playing with Robben Ford and did this kind of thing vibrato wise and he said "That's cool, my hands aren't strong enough to do that. You must have put a lot of time into that." He understands that things like this require a lot of work. So just do it! It's also a ton of fun.
