Watch the Floor Blues Solo online guitar lesson by Jeff McErlain from Essentials: Advanced Blues Soloing
I would say most of Hendrix's catalog is essential listening, as we know his career was fairly short, yet he left many recordings fortunately for us. I would not say all of them are equal, but the one that stands atop but all of them is the Band of Gypsys recording for New Year's Eve 1970. For me, this is Jimmy Hendrix and his absolute high point as an artist. In fact, the whole band together as a unit left us with one of the best live recordings I've ever heard (On a quick aside, please also check out The Allman Brothers' At Fillmore East for another transcendent recording). This was the record that made me truly understand Jimi Hendrix and literally made the hairs on my arm stick up, or as Little Richard said about Jimi Hendrix, his playing made "my big toe standup in my boot."
