Watch the Saw Blade online guitar lesson by Jeff McErlain from Essentials: Advanced Blues Rhythm
Albert King was one of the most influential blues players of all time. Understanding and knowing blues history is exceptionally important. As much as I love Stevie Ray Vaughan and grew up on his playing, I didn't realize how influenced he was by Albert King until I heard Albert King. Certainly not detract anything from Stevie - he was an absolute monster player - but there are many similarities between their playing. When going back to the blues roots, it's really fun and important to see how other players were influenced by the originators. Licks that I thought I stole from Eric Clapton were actually Albert King licks, and Eric would be the first to admit it.
