Andy Ellis About the Educator

As a former Senior Editor at Guitar Player magazine and a current Senior Editor at Premier Guitar, Andy has interviewed and taken lessons with dozens of guitar masters, including Carlos Santana, Larry Carlton, B.B. King, Albert Lee, Eric Johnson, and Ry Cooder. A Berklee College of Music alum, Andy has studied with Mick Goodrick, Lenny Breau, and Stick inventor Emmett Chapman. Andy played the Stick solo on Amy Grant's Grammy Award-winning "Angels."

"The lessons in Guitar Player are not as hard to play as they look," says Andy, "but for many of us, written music appears daunting. The fact is, most guitarists' playing skills far surpass their reading abilities. When guitarists actually hear the examples, they realize, 'Hey, I can do that,' and feel inspired to tackle the lesson."
