Watch the In Love With Love Pt. Three online guitar lesson by Jon Herington from Ear IQ: Reactive Improvisation
See if you can analyze the solo for this third, most challenging section of "In Love With Love." First notice that (after the slideup from the G sharp, the A is the third of the F# minor chord. Then notice the fifth and the seventh of that chord and how it connects nicely to the D# - the third of the B7 chord. That jumps up to the root of the B7 chord, the B. Then notice the arpeggio (or good sounding "collection") of the F# minor chord (a sort of minor ninth arpeggio, or an Amajor seventh arpeggio) which then uses some good sounding connecting notes to move down to the D#, the third of the B7 chord (also note that it lands on that third of the chord exactly on the downbeat of the new chord). Continue all the way through the song like this, and see how many of the techniques we've discussed you can find.
