Watch the A Funky Vamp online guitar lesson by David Grissom from Open Road Guitar

On this example I started out by doing some double stop bends with my first finger where I am using more of a vibrato effect than a real bend. Next even though that's on an A 9 chord which typically has a major third, I use a C which is the flat third that functions as a blue note. I think it's perfectly legal to do that! From there I played some of the suspensions we talked about in the suspension section. From there I grabbed a hold of the C note and started to milk the note all the way up and added some vibrato. After that I did some pedal steel licks that I start off with the rake and then into a descending lick.
