Watch the A Dozen Strings online guitar lesson by Jason Loughlin from 30 Country Jazz Licks You MUST Know
Paul Buskirk was a Texas picker and multi-instrumentalist. He was a great guitarist, banjoist, and mandolinist. His Jim Harvey double neck guitar was a combination of a mandolin and a guitar. Paul made a record using this guitar, which is a super rarity among collectors. He maintained a close relationship with Willie Nelson for his entire career. Willie credits Paul as giving him his start by setting him up in Nashville. They worked together on and off over the years, most notably on the swing record they did together in 1981 titled Somewhere Over the Rainbow.
We're going to look at one of Paul’s licks from "Jim Harvey’s Rag". This lick arpeggiates through a B7 chord chromatically walking the root down to the b7th.
