Watch the D Country online guitar lesson by Johnny Hiland from Ten Gallon Guitar

Let's get into this first band track we did. I created this D track so that I could utilize a lot of the focus stuff that we talked about in section 1. I played that whole scale within its entirety to start this whole thing. Then, I went back a little further and then I segmented that into the G section where I played the G open scale. I continued it from there. Then in A, I used more of the bendy kind of stuff. Then in D, I did more of the double stop stuff to end it. What I wanted to do with this track was show you that the high-low-low-high pattern, you could use the same licks we learned in the first part of section 1 so that you could create a solo, utilizing those same exact licks. Would I take them a step further? Yes, and you can do the same. There's going to be a band track where you can fun with this yourself. Have fun and experiment. Have fun with the open string licks and mixing them with the double stops and the steel guitar bends. I hope you have a blast with it!
