I start by establishing a motif that targets the 3rd. I do this over the C and G chord before finally resolving to the root of G. Then, I move double stops up the neck chromatically. I use a swing lick with the G Mixolydian scale to get back to the C chord. For the next chorus, I'm using pedal steel bends that outline triad inversions over the C and F chords.
