Watch the Outlaw Country Solo online guitar lesson by Jason Loughlin from Essentials: Country Soloing Styles

This solo starts out by establishing a motif that targets the b7th then the 5th. I continue this idea over the C chord and target the 5th of the C chord. The neck lick over C is a three note hammer on lick using 16th notes. By picking an even rhythm and an odd number of notes, we'll have a shifting accent. I use a bluesy lick to lead back into the F chord. There are few times in the outlaw style where you make a real point to outline triads. This lick embellishes the 4th to 3rd of an F triad. For the next couple measures, I'm using a mix of the sliding major pentatonic and the minor pentatonic. I'll do the same thing over the Bb chord. For the turnaround, I'm using a bending double stop that targets the chord tones of the F and C chords. The solo wraps up with a mix of F major and minor pentatonic.
