Watch the Outrun The Train online guitar lesson by Ladd Smith from Modern Nashville Guitar
Here's one of my little signature licks right off the cuff there as we go into the F#. It's a real neat little double-stop thing with some 7ths in it. One fun thing to do is to slide up into the double-stops in half steps. Next is a neat hammer-on/pull-off lick that my brother Larran showed me years ago that I took and modified for my own style a bit. Try to mute the strings and keep the notes clean, they can be touchy and they will want to ring with unwanted overtones with this particular lick. Then I'm showing how I'm getting out of that scenario back into E rolling off on the low strings to end the whole phrase. Remember to pace yourself and take each thing in sections, hopefully you will have a lot of fun new stuff to add to your playing by the time we're through!
