Watch the Outrun The Train online guitar lesson by Ladd Smith from Modern Nashville Guitar

Here I borrowed a few notes from one of my very favorite guitarists in the whole world from any style, Mr. Brent Mason. I breakdown some of Brent Mason's signature runs in his song "Hotwired", which was very much a Jerry Reed inspired piece by the way. If you really want to see one the sources of where all this stuff started and developed you absolutely have to check out Jerry Reed's work. After that check out the guy who many called Reed's successor; Buster B. Jones. I then reiterate this phrasing in the mid strings as our song moves back to E. You can spend a lot of good practice time just getting this one lick down where it's clean. It helps to really dig your elbow in and use the very tips of your fingers in order to let the notes on each open string through. This is a good one to practice slow and work through patiently, you'll be glad you did.
