Watch the Clouds online guitar lesson by Ladd Smith from Modern Nashville Guitar

Check out the sliding 4th interval licks and bends. Reggie Young was notorious for his use of this approach. Most musicians agree that Cornell Dupree was heavily responsible for pioneering this sound in commercial R&B and Pop recordings. However, it was Reggie Young who really carried the torch for the 4th interval sweet slide sound in the country/rock/r&b/pop world, making this style contagious on pop and country music recordings in Nashville from the 70's through today. It's a great style to learn and get acquainted with and will probably always be on the radio in some form or another. Other guitarists that heavily influenced my approach on this groove are Pete Wade, Mark Knopfler, James Burton, Gregg Galbroth, Steve Cropper, Dann Huff, Chris Leuzinger & Brent Mason.
