Watch the Pickin' 6ths: Study 2 online guitar lesson by Jason Loughlin from Country Guitar Survival Guide: Lead Edition
I've always been a big fan of Jerry Reed's guitar playing. I remember the first time I heard The Claw and how impressed I was with his solo breaks. The one that really caught my ear was his descending sixths lick. What made this so cool was the way he approached the bottom note of each sixth interval with a muted chromatic run before jumping to the higher note of the interval. In this instrumental study we are focusing more on embellishing the sixths. We'll use different approaches to the top and bottom notes of the interval, pull-offs to open strings, slides, hammer-ons and new right hand patterns.
