Watch the Study 6: Swinging South online guitar lesson by Jason Loughlin from Country Guitar Survival Guide: Rhythm
Study six is all about the swing. This one gives you tools to cover a few of country's sub genres. You can use these chords and quarter note strum pattern for western swing, cowboy music, country jazz or countrpolitan. You don't find a lot single note guitar fills when playing swing. That's usually dedicated to a lead player. You want to hold down the four on the floor feel. Once it's established it sounds strange and empty to stop for a fill. You can use an inversions, different rhythms or chord embellishment as a fill though. We'll be using our Maj6th, Dom7th, min7th and min7thb5 chords.
