Watch the Blue Rider online guitar lesson by Ray Nijenhuis from 50 Western Swing Licks You MUST Know
Blue Rider is a medium slow one. It's an example of how to combine different techniques to make arpeggios sound more colorful. It incorporates hammer-ons, pull-offs, bends and slides to embellish the notes which will make it sound more like a melody than a bunch of chord notes grouped together. In the second half of this lick we will see how a bluesy minor pentatonic based lick fits the I IV I chord change nicely. Feel free to experiment with this last part and play half step bends and/or slides as per the video.
