Watch the See Saw Double online guitar lesson by Jason Loughlin from 50 Country Masters Licks You MUST Know

This is a double stop lick that’s kind of mixture between a Danny Gatton lick and a Brad Paisley. The lick has its roots in Danny’s adaptation of organ playing to the guitar. Danny had this really cool technique where he would keep one note going on the bottom, sometimes with an approach the same way that an organ player would hold his thumb on the low note of a voicing and then move around with the other fingers to play a melody. Danny’s way of doing this was to keep alternating picking on the low string and using his other two fingers to grab at double stops. It really does sound like an organ. In the context of country guitar playing it’s just a great double stop that has influenced a lot of modern country players. It’s something that can be played at very fast tempos, too, which makes it sound pretty impressive.
