Watch the Country Kid online guitar lesson by Jason Loughlin from 50 Country Masters Licks You MUST Know
This lick comes from an Albert Lee tune that he brought to LA with his band Heads, Hands and Feet in 1971. Nothing was really heard of this tune until Ricky Skaggs decided to record it in the 1980s, and did a much quicker and more electrified version than the original. The top of the song has this signature guitar lick. It’s a little too long for us to go into the whole break note for note. One of the unique things about it is the backwards rolling pattern that Albert plays in G, using the open G string and some approach notes. He ends up implying a great bluegrass style banjo roll.
