Watch the Jerry's Meltdown online guitar lesson by Jason Loughlin from 50 Country Masters Licks You MUST Know
This is a really recognizable lick if you are a fan of Jerry Reed. It comes from a tricky little tune called Jerry's Breakdown released in 1972 on the Me and Chet record. What makes it so tricky is his use of open strings and fretting up high on the neck to create a cascading effect. His guitar playing was a huge influence on more modern players like Brent Mason, who uses a lot of the cascading scales and a lot of Jerry Reed’s other tricks to create his own signature guitar sound.
