Watch the Late Night Cruise online guitar lesson by Jason Loughlin from 50 Country Masters Licks You MUST Know

This double stop lick comes from the virtuosic Jimmy Bryant. It comes from his solo over a tune called "The Night Rider" released in 1954 on the Speed West Jimmy Bryant record Two Guitars Country Style. The tune, like a lot of the Speedy West and Jimmy Bryant tunes, is based on rhythm changes and is in the key of B flat. This is a super creative way to walk through rhythm changes with double stops. You also have to keep in mind that Jimmy Bryant was the first guy to endorse a Broadcaster. So it’s also the first time you’re really hearing creative use of double stops on what came to be the telecaster. This early sophisticated double stop lick is an important one.
