Watch the Donahue's Nutty Bends online guitar lesson by Jason Loughlin from 50 Country Masters Licks You MUST Know

These are a bunch of bizarre pedal steel bends inspired by Jerry Donahue, who is a pioneer of bending on the telecaster. Jerry is known for being a member of two bands dear to guitarists. One is Fairport Convention, where he replaced Richard Thompson. The other is the 80s picker super group, the Helecasters with John Jorgenson and Will Ray. Jerry has a really interesting way of bending on the telecaster. He uses a lot of behind the nut bends as well as something called contrary motion bends. He has developed this way of bending notes and having them resolve in opposite directions by grabbing two strings at once. It's a very cool idea and hard to master.
