Watch the Hot Rod online guitar lesson by Jason Loughlin from 1-2-3 Rockabilly Guitar

I picked this tune because it's a great variation on a classic boogie line. It also falls into one of my favorite sub-genres of rockabilly called truckerbilly or dieselbilly. These are tunes all about cars and racing. Tunes like "Race With The Devil" and "Six Days on the Road". The tune was a follow up to a song called "Hot Rod Race". Originally it was recorded by Charlie Ryan. His version adds an extra IV chord. I'm a bigger fan of the Johnny Bond and Commander Cody versions. This tune sounds a little lopsided but it's just I, IV, V, I in that order. The whole tune is this boogie line repeated over and over while the singer tells the story of the Hot Rod.
