Blues and Country music built America's musical backbone. Blues music was influenced the folk and country progressions and 4/4 time and Country music was influenced by the use of quarter steps and flat 5ths implying more of a micro-tonal sound. Since Rockabilly is the combination of rock and hillbilly music it's no surprise guitarist lean on some classic blues licks as part of their vocabulary. These blues licks come from either the blues scale as we know it or the minor pentatonic. I'll show you three commonly used licks that are all completely interchangeable with the I, IV and V chords.
