Watch the Travis Picking online guitar lesson by Jason Loughlin from 1-2-3 Rockabilly Guitar
Travis picking gets it's name from the great Merle Travis. Merle developed a way to imitate stride piano on guitar by play melody and an alternating bass line at the same time using his index finger and thumb. This technique was later perfected by Mr. Guitar himself, Chet Atkins. This is probably the most difficult technique in the course. It's also the coolest one. Go figure. You don't need a bunch of these patterns just one good one will do the trick. I'll show you how to Travis pick using our three chord shapes.
