Watch the Okie On Parole online guitar lesson by Jason Loughlin from 1-2-3 Country

In our last instrumental study, Okie On Parole, we have a progression that moves faster than what we've been dealing with so far in this course. Now we can't fit our two measure licks over a chord that's only lasting a measure unless we play it twice as fast. I chose this progression because I think it's something that guitarists commonly come up against. They try to fit an idea into a place where it doesn't fit. All you have to do is take a piece of the lick. This requires that you know the lick well enough to chose which piece of it will work best. Rhythm guitar on this instrumental will be a variation of Carter style. We are going to palm mute everything. We will still be using our alternating bass line but instead of strumming a full chord on beats two and four, we will just be strumming two strings.
