Watch the Lead Guitar online guitar lesson by Jason Loughlin from 1-2-3 Country
Section two is dedicated to lead country guitar. We will work on three common lead guitar approaches that are going to be most useful to you, flat picking, double stops and bending. The first lead approach is flat pickin' which has its roots in bluegrass. The second lead approach we will learn is double stops. This will have us playing two notes at the same time and using hybrid picking. These licks are based out of our movable chord shapes. Lastly, we will work on our country bending. We will learn three licks for each approach. Each lick is assigned to a chord shape. So by the end of the section you will have a flat picking lick, double stop lick and bending lick for each chord shape. This will insure that we are playing the changes. For each one of these approaches I'll demonstrate the lick and then we will play along together adding variations. Let's start with our first flat pickin' lick.
