Watch the Single Note Free Stroke Exercise online guitar lesson by Andrew Leonard from Beginner Method for Classical Guitar
This short video contains "My Favorite Right Hand Exercise" without commentary. Remember to apply the teaching points discussed in the previous video.
When practicing, I suggest you exaggerate the motion into the hand - often called the follow through. As mentioned in the video, you'll not actually play with this much of a follow through. Once you understand the motion, you can then refine it and use less of a follow through.
If you get in the habit of repeating this exercise many times per practice session, your classical guitar free stroke technique will improve quickly. Since free strokes are a new concept, practice slowly. Pay extra attention to the position of your right hand knuckles, make sure they stay over the strings. I suggest playing this exercise at least 10 times per session.
