Watch the A Minor Situation online guitar lesson by Brad Carlton from Chord Studies: Jazz Turnarounds Vol. 1
In this turnaround, we're going to swap out our first chord, Fmaj7 for an Am7. Instead of playing the I chord, we can play the iii chord in it's place because they share common tones. If you play an Am7 and put F in the bass, you may recognize that as the Fmaj9 chord we played previously. Swapping the I with the iii is a great move to have in your bag for these jazz turnarounds.
