Watch the Follow the Voice Leader online guitar lesson by Brad Carlton from Chord Studies: Inversions Vol. 1
This is an excellent example of voice leading, where the notes move efficiently and smoothly from the D Minor to the C chord. We'll begin with the D Minor in root position played in the fifth fret, and then, staying on the same set of strings, we move to the C chord in root position. Then for the third and fourth measures, we'll move over to the second, third, and fourth string group to play our last two chords. Practice playing these changes smoothly and cleanly, then begin to add rhythmic variation once you are comfortable with the motions.
