Watch the Octave Up online guitar lesson by Brad Carlton from Chord Studies: Evolving Triads Vol. 1
In this example we are using the same inversions that we had in example 1 except up an octave. So in the key of A we go up and play the A chord, second inversion on the 14th fret. Come down with your second and third fingers and grab the D chord that comes out of the C form of the CAGED system. Move down two frets, and move your second finger over. Now that you're getting comfortable with where the shapes and octaves are, try applying this to different keys.
