Watch the Grand Melody online guitar lesson by Brad Carlton from Chord Studies: CAGED Chords Vol. 3

The first voicing for our C chord is coming out of the E form of the CAGED system. Since this chord only has four voicings we're fingering it a little differently than you may be accustomed to. We then move to a grand barre and play the C with all six strings. The purpose of this move is to create chordal melody when the top voicing moves from G to C. Next we move to Dm using the Gm form out of the EDCAG system. Again in measures three and four we create melody by moving our top voicing from the B string to the E string.
