Watch the D Form For All online guitar lesson by Brad Carlton from Chord Studies: CAGED Chords Vol. 1
In this example we will play the D form for both the A and the G chords. Your first finger will barre five strings but let it extend over the strings a little farther so it actually deadens the sixth string. The root of the chord in this case occurs on the fourth string, but with this fingering you also have access to the fifth of the chord which is being played on the fifth string.
