Watch the The Lazy Jig online guitar lesson by Tony McManus from The Celtic Journeyman

This is an arrangement of Out on the Ocean that goes back to my friend Ian Carr who, some years ago, was playing with Northumbrian piper Kathryn Tickell. He played the tune quite seriously entirely in harmonics but I noticed that by adopting a certain left hand position the entire tune could be played with virtually no movement in the left hand.

The arrangement uses the harmonics at frets 12 and 7...and one at fret 5. We have the pentatonic scale sitting under our fingers in harmonics in this position and by using these carefully we can even add some ornamentation to the arrangement.
