Watch the Tullochgorum online guitar lesson by Tony McManus from The Celtic Journeyman
Now we’re going to look at a strathspey made famous by Scottish musical icon- James Scott Skinner, fiddle player from Banchory up in the north east of Scotland. He wrote six variations on this tune which are incredibly virtuosic- an extravaganza of Scots violin playing- but the actual melody is an older traditional tune in the key of G.
It’s capoed at the 5th fret and is in DADGAD tuning. So review those ideas. Also look at the strathspey rhythm and the DADGAD scale.
