This phrase also helps those that want to become better readers. You want to get more accustomed to seeing rests, breaks, triplets, accidentals, etc. If you changed the rhythm section behind this line each time you played it, the line would still hold up and sound good.
There's no one way to improvise. I use a lot of turnarounds on this phrase (and most of the others as well), these are notes leading to the next note. Chromatics, triplets, whatever - mix and match this line with many of the other lines and see how many different ones you can come up with that still sound good to you...I came up with 1,346,786 lines, give or take 6 or 7.
