Try playing a crescendo on the first note leading into the next note. This line kind of sounds like a big band phrase played by trumpet players. On guitar, you can pick it staccato, play it legato, whatever you feel. It's like a chromatic triplet line ending in a few blues notes. Practice the rhythm of this phrase and use different notes. It works.
I can't stress enough how using chromatics is a great approach in the beginning of a line as long as you play a line that makes sense at the end, going back into the key you are playing. Think about it and sing lines like this even when you're not holding your instrument. You'll get it faster. I used to think about this concept so much until I finally got it. It opened up a whole new world for me at that point.
