Watch the Level 2: Blues Bends online guitar lesson by Jeff McErlain from Take 5: Blues Bends
If you have any of my other courses
here on TrueFire (and I highly recommend them ;-) ), I talk a lot about tweaking the b3rd of the minor pentatonic scale on both a major and minor chord. That little inflection is essential to any and all blues, blues rock, rock, country, and just about any and all popular music. Therefore, we need to spend a lot of time on it!
The trick is to keep the bend in motion, and because the tweaked note is only alluding to the natural 3rd on a dom7 chord, we're not actually sounding that pitch. So if we stop the bend's motion, we'd have an out of tune pitch that would defeat the purpose or the tweak. It's subtle, but that's where the beauty of it is.
