Duke Robillard is a player that covers many shades of the swing blues sound. Aside from being able to mimic many of the classic swing blues guitarists to a tee, Duke mixes it all up into his own unique thing. I can't really say enough good about Duke Robillard's playing, so let's just leave it at that.
One of his albums that helped me get together some foundational swing slues ideas, was the album Swing. On it, he covers a variety of different feels with a wealth of great language and ideas. This piece was inspired by his take on some of Freddie Green's 4-to-the-bar style comping ideas. It's in the key of Bb, with chord movement spanning the fretboard from the 1st to the 12th fret.
