This piece is in the key of G and opens up strong with a great double stop on the high E and B strings. This double stop incorporates the minor 3rd and major 6th chord tones which really grab the ear. Then the licks proceed down the G major scale, with some great movement between the minor 3rd and major 3rd (back and forth). This interplay between major and minor sounds is one of the things that really makes that west coast sound. This solo uses a great implied change to the IV chord in the 3rd and 4th measures. Pay special attention to the turnaround, which features a great descending riff that really outlines the underlying chord changes.
