Watch the Swing Blues Survival Guide: Lead online guitar lesson by David Blacker from Swing Blues Survival Guide: Lead
Hopefully this course has given you the tools to take your swing blues playing to the next level. By now you should be comfortable with the idea of constructing licks that outline and transition through different chord changes, and be familiar with some of the key transitional sections of a re-harmonized swing blues progression, chromatic lines, and chord substitutions that are central to the style. You should also have a solid sense of the vocabulary and phrasing styles of some of the great jump, swing & west coast blues guitar players.
As I mentioned in the intro video, the rhythm edition
of this course will bring additional concepts to the table designed to help round out your playing. I also have a West Coast Blues
workshop on TrueFire that features more of this language and approach. Creating this course was a real labor of love for me, and I appreciate your taking this journey with me. These solos are just meant to open the door, and help you unlock some key ideas, so that you can take your studying and playing to the next level. It's all about spending time listening to these great players and absorbing the ideas that resonate with you. Until next time…
