Watch the Rhythmic Transposition online guitar lesson by Matthieu Brandt from Blues Solo Strategies

One of the building blocks of your licks is (of course) the rhythmic structure. If you dig the rhythm of your lick, you can repeat it or use it in a question and answer structure. Even if you transpose a lick to a different key altogether, the audience will recognize the logic because of the rhythmic resemblance. The most powerful way to experience this is to play a strong lick and transpose it a half note up.
