Watch the Solo #7 online guitar lesson by Corey Congilio from Solo Factory: Texas Blues
A topic players often talk about when improvising is starting your lick on upbeats. This example does just that. I use the lick I Love Pattern 4 to start this one out. I use it over the I chord and then move on to the IV chord lick Start Up High. These two licks link together nicely. I use the V chord lick Funky In 4 to finish the solo. This lick is a good option because we start in Pattern 4 and end up finishing the solo in the same pattern. Continuity and melody are key. Staying in the same general area of the guitar helps achieve this.
