Continuing using the idea of outlining the chord, this lick is quite common and exceptionally useful. We start off clearly outlining the D7 chord (DF#AC) by bending the C up to the D on the second string then fretting the A and F#. I laid it out like this to show you that we are really just playing the notes of the D7 chord. Sometimes this sounds the best. It also lets us see them that is very important to know the names of the notes in each chord.
