Watch the Sweet Shuffle #2 online guitar lesson by Jeff McErlain from Solo Factory: Chicago Blues
Samuel "Magic Sam" Gene Maghett was born in Mississippi in 1937 and moved to Chicago in 1950. He started recording for Cobra Records along side label mates Buddy Guy and Otis Rush. His breakthrough hits were the amazing "Lookin' Good (We're Gonna Boogie)", "All Your Love" and "Easy Baby". If you want to get into Sam's playing I recommend "West Side Soul" and "Black Magic". Tragically Magic Sam suffered a heart attack and died at age 32. To me one of the most amazing performances ever is his version of "Lookin' Good' from the Ann Arbor Blues Festival that was captured on film. He is playing Earl Hooker's Les Paul copy with his name on it. It is a tour de force of guitar playing with a groove that kills. YouTube it! Now!!!
