Watch the Breakdown 2 online guitar lesson by Andy Aledort from Slow Blues Power

In bar 6, I switch to G minor pentatonic (G Bb C D F) using open strings, but try to blur the line between G and D minor pentatonic by also incorporating notes and phrases that are based on D minor pentatonic but utilize open strings in a similar way. Using this “two-key” concept can yield some very cool and unusual results, and afford plenty of opportunities for interesting melodic ideas. Bar 7 brings the doublestop sixths in G back into play, but I wrap up the bar with fast D minor pentatonic licks, using open strings, to anticipate the change back to the I (one) chord, D7.
