Watch the Breakdown 4 online guitar lesson by Andy Aledort from Slow Blues Power

Bar 7 culminates with a move from the open string patterns back to III (third) position, followed in bar 8 with a move back to sixth position Bb Blues scale licks. This sets up the shift to yet a higher position for the licks played over the V (five) chord, F7; steadily moving up the fretboard while developing a solo is a great way to create movement and interest, as the feeling of ascension is emulated by the actual frethand movement. The licks over F7 in bar 9 are based on F Mixolydian (F G A Bb C D Eb), after which I quickly shift up to F minor pentatonic licks played in XIII (13th) position.
