Watch the Power Blues in G: online guitar lesson by Andy Aledort from Slow Blues Power

This next chorus of slow blues soloing is based on a technique used to great effect by legendary blues guitar great Albert King on his blues classic, “Blues Power.” On that track, the are a variety of choruses where the band hits hard on the downbeat of “one” and then “lays out” (stops playing entirely) on each of the first three bars of the progression. Across those three beats of silence in each bar, Albert typically plays very expressive lines which often incorporate huge two-step bends, sounded with a sharp attack and often followed by a stinging vibrato.
