Watch the Breakdown 4 online guitar lesson by Andy Aledort from Slow Blues Power

Bar five features a return to the I (one) chord, F7, across beats one and two, and a shift to the VI (sixth) chord, D7, across beats three and four. Over F7, I play F Blues scale (F Ab Bb B[Cb] C Eb) licks in I (first) position, which balances nicely against the F major pentatonic licks played over Bdim7 in 10th position in the previous bar. On beat two, I use the F note (third string/third fret) as a pivot point to initiate the move to D7, following that F note with a D root note (over D7) and then an F#, which serves as the major third over D.
